Downton Abbey
Doubtless, the waspish Dowager Violet, as portrayed by Maggie Smith, would not approve, but her home is yours for the staying. Byfleet Manor in Surrey, mostly a 17th-century construction but with connections leading back to Katherine of Aragon and Edward III, offers a taste of the Downton life with accommodation in its turn-of-the-century West Wing, decorated in full Victorian style.
